Birthdays are the perfect occasion for a little get away. Living in Massachusetts, the cold starts to sneak in right around my birthday, early November, so for me it’s a really good occasion. For my 24th birthday, all I wanted was relaxation and some adventure, and Belize was the perfect blend. My friend Sandy had the idea, so we got to planning made it happen!
Belize was so awesome. This trip was two years ago and the memories still bring us so much laughter and that pleasant nostalgic feeling. From the people to the delicious food (I ate sooo much food lol), the beautiful landscapes and soulful music, everything melds into a comfortable atmosphere that reels you in and makes you just forget about everything else. We stayed at Hopkins Bay Resort and loved everything about our stay.
When traveling, I love to observe the way people interact with each other, converse with locals and admire the built environment. Belize was a muse. There were little moments when I was reminded of Haiti but there was still much learned. I made lasting friendships, tried new things, went on spontaneous excursions to beautiful areas of the country with the help of newly made friends…I honestly forgot I was a visitor! lol.
