Helloooooo!!!
Every time I start writing for my blog again, I remember how much I love this space. So happy to be back.
Your girl has completed her first year of grad school. I am proud of myself, but the past nine months have honestly been one of the hardest time periods of my life, and the end of the school year was especially hard.
I’ll elaborate on the next post but overall, I grew a lot and in ways I’m still learning how to perfectly articulate. There were a lot of tough moments that stretched me. And they were because of a combination of things; moving away from home, missing family and truly learning to be on my own. I’m diving deep into hard topics, having difficult conversations and doing a lot of reflection on my own thoughts and opinions on social issues and other issues communities are facing, that I deeply care about and want to be a part of resolving in my future career. I’ve also been paying more attention to my mental health. There’s been a lot going on, but generally good things.
Immediately after finals ended, I just wanted to be outside, at the beach, in the woods… just outside. If you’ve read any on my travel posts, you know that I absolutely love waterfalls so that’s the direction I went for my research. So I found Trail Canyon Falls and dragged a few friends along for a hike.
Trail Canyon Trail (yes that the actual name), is approximately a 3-mile hike to Trail Canyon Falls. The blogs I read said it would be a 2-hour hike in total but it took us over 3 hours, plus an hour spent at the waterfall, so it was a 4+ hour adventure in total. We also took short breaks in between. There is quite a bit of uphill which we did not get any warnings about on the blogs either, BUT it’s not terrible.
We started around 11am. Next time I would probably start earlier so we are at the waterfall by the time the sun is in the middle of the sky. The last 3/4 of a mile has no shade so it got hot, but listen the views…THE VIEWS….I’m still not over the views.
The waterfall was EVERYTHING!Â
The verdict- It’s worth it. Just hydrate before going!
Here’s Trail Canyon Falls!
Then the magic happened!
Getting to the bottom of the fall!
I was in the vibe LOL. Sad we couldn’t stay forever but I’ll be definitely be doing more hiking throughout the summer!
If you know of any cool hiking spots in CA feel free to share!
…and as always, I’m here for all your questions!
